A 98-year-old resident of Bhojpur has constructed a drinking water facility at a local school, setting an example of community service and social responsibility. Ujir Bahadur Pradhan built the facility at Saraswoti Basic School in Bhojpur Municipality in memory of his late wife, Rupchhimi Pradhan.
The school administration communicated that Pradhan provided funds (Rs 200,000) for the construction of five water tap stations and a five-thousand-litre (5,000 litres) water storage tank in order to have safe drinking water available to all and to fulfil a long-felt want of students at this school.
Pradhan presented the water supply system and supporting infrastructure (in this case) to school headmaster Sharan Kumar Rai. Speaking on the occasion, Pradhan said he initiated the project because access to clean drinking water is a fundamental right of students and essential for their health and learning environment.
The water supply facility was inaugurated jointly by Pradhan and former chairman of the school management committee Gopal Karki. Local representatives and school officials welcomed the contribution, noting that the new system would significantly improve daily conditions for students and staff.
In addition to the water facility, students of Saraswoti Basic School also received Nepali Dhaka Topi. The headmaster said the caps were distributed using Rs 20,000 in cash assistance donated by the school’s former student, Dr Binod Parajuli. School officials described the combined support as an example of how individual contributions can create lasting impact in local educational institutions.
