Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has revised its Proportional Representation (PR) candidate list, removing 17 candidates aligned with Kulman Ghising’s Ujyalo Nepal faction following a formal split between the two groups.
The updated list was submitted to the Election Commission on Sunday, shortly after Ghising announced his departure from RSP to rejoin and lead Ujyalo Nepal as its chairman. Party sources confirmed that all proportional candidates linked to the Ghising faction were dropped, except Rima Bishwakarma, who continues to hold the top position in the Dalit cluster.
According to an RSP source, Bishwakarma was retained because she chose to remain with the party despite the breakdown of the earlier alliance. “After the agreement with Ujyalo Nepal collapsed, the names of 17 proportional candidates were removed,” the source said.
The split allegedly followed prolonged disagreements over leadership roles, allocation of proportional representation seats, and organizational authority. Both sides have accused each other of failing to respect commitments made during unity talks and of overstepping agreed boundaries.
With the latest revision, RSP’s proportional representation list now includes 110 candidates representing the party and its remaining allied factions. The party has not indicated whether further changes will be made to the list ahead of final approval by the Election Commission.
